Parents and family members are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with their child, when hospitalized. Brothers and sisters of any age are welcome to visit. Parents are responsible for their supervision. Please no visitors with colds, flu, fever or exposure to chickenpox within the past three weeks.
Sleeping space for overnight stays is provided on the sixth floor of the hospital. Because space is limited, please plan for only one parent or family member over age 18 to stay overnight. Your child's nurse can provide information about the availability of beds and shower facilities for parents.
All patient rooms have couches that convert into day beds.
In the hospital, you will have access to a microwave oven and a refrigerator. To store food in the refrigerator, label the item with your child's name and the date. Food will be stored for three days from the date on the label. Similarly, breast milk can be stored in the freezer.
Although we don't have on-site housing, we do maintain listings of hotel and motel accommodations. For information about hotels, motels and short-term apartment rentals, please visit our campus Housing Office website. A number of guesthouses and motels are located close to the hospital.
Please make your lodging arrangements as far in advance as possible because San Francisco hotels tend to be busy.
