Kayla Vaughan is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (ICU). She is interested in mother-infant bonding in the ICU, transplant medicine, and policies to improve health outcomes for children.
Vaughan earned her master's degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is proud to be part of a family legacy in which many relatives have worked at UCSF, including her grandfather, Dr. Daniel Vaughan, an eminent ophthalmologist.
An Oakland native, Vaughan enjoys exploring the beautiful Bay Area outdoors. She also loves to travel with her husband, a hospitalist with the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
