Novel treatments — including biological therapies, new drug delivery strategies, and unique combination of radiation and chemotherapy — seek to improve outcomes and reduce long-term toxicities for children with brain tumors. Team Treatment Provides a Care Continuum for Cleft Lip and Palate Children born with cleft lip or palate are vulnerable to many things that affect basic functions, such as breathing, eating, talking and hearing. Comprehensive team care that includes surgeons, dentists, a nurse practitioner, a speech pathologist, a social worker and genetic counselors results in the least number of operations and the best outcomes.
Since the devastating earthquake struck Haiti in January 2010, pediatric and neonatology clinicians from UCSF have made a number of volunteer trips to serve the medical needs of the Haitian people.
