Pediatric anesthesiologist

Dr. Marla B. Ferschl is an anesthesiologist who cares for children when they need sedation or anesthesia for nonsurgical procedures, radiologic studies or surgery. She is also a member of UCSF's fetal surgery team as well as the UCSF pediatric specialty team that integrates pain management and palliative care.

Ferschl's research interests include anesthesia for surgeries to treat defects in fetuses. She also studies operating room efficiency and ways of delivering feedback during procedures in the operating room.

Ferschl earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed a residency in anesthesiology at UCSF and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Boston Children's Hospital.

Ferschl directs UCSF's fellowship program in pediatric anesthesia and organizes the resident rotation in pediatric anesthesia. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, California Society of Anesthesiologists and Society for Pediatric Anesthesia.
