

Pediatric cancer specialist
Dr. Kevin Shannon is a specialist in pediatric cancers, in particular leukemia, at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. He directs a research laboratory at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center that is studying the genetic basis of inherited leukemia.
Shannon earned a medical degree at Cornell University and completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at UCSF Medical Center. His research on pediatric leukemia has been widely published in medical journals. He also is the recipient of many honors and awards, including the American Academy of Pediatrics Award for Excellence in Pediatric Research. Shannon is a professor of pediatrics and program leader of the Cancer Center's Hematopoietic Malignancies program at UCSF.
