Dennis Nielson, M.D.

Chief of pediatric pulmonary medicine

Dr. Dennis Nielson specializes in pediatric pulmonary medicine and is director of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center. In his research, he works to better understand cystic fibrosis and explore new therapies.

Nielson earned a medical degree and doctorate at the University of Utah. He went on to complete a pediatric residency and pulmonary training at UCSF Medical Center, and later organized a new division of pediatric pulmonary medicine at the University of Utah, where he served on the pediatrics faculty for 18 years. After two years at a children's hospital in Ohio, he returned to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in 2001.
