

Pediatric hospitalist
Dr. Darren Fiore is a pediatric hospitalist, who coordinates the care of hospitalized children at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton, a UCSF-affiliated community hospital. He is committed towards improving care of hospitalized patients. His expertise includes pediatric sedation to reduce pain or anxiety during procedures and transport medicine for critically ill infants and children.
Fiore earned a medical degree at State University of New York at Downstate Medical Center. He completed a residency in pediatrics, and served as chief resident, at UCSF, Fiore has been recognized by the Academy of Medical Educators with an Excellence in Teaching Award and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of the UCSF Teaching Scholar's Program. In his research, he is interested in hospital medicine and education, particularly hospital patient safety initiatives and improving workflow, communication and efficiency. He is the director of the UCSF Evening Hospitalist Program and is involved in a multi-center research study of a national night curriculum for pediatric residents. He is an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at UCSF.
