Ophthalmology & Optometry Clinic

UCSF's Pediatric Ophthalmology & Optometry Clinic evaluates and treats pediatric eye problems, from the most common to the rare and extremely complex. Our team's only focus is the unique eye care needs of children of all ages – from the youngest who can't tell us what they see to those getting their first pair of glasses. We see patients with a range of conditions, including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), ptosis (drooping eyelid), blocked tear ducts, cataracts, pediatric glaucoma, retinal disorders, corneal disorders, eye birth defects and optical nerve disorders.

We use the latest diagnostic techniques and equipment, adapted specifically for children. If surgery is needed, our pediatric ophthalmologists perform the procedures, including eye muscle surgery for the correction of strabismus; cataract extraction; clearing blocked tear ducts; and repairing drooping eyelids. Other conditions may call for working closely with specialists such as pediatric neurologists and surgeons. Our goal is to help your child achieve the best vision possible.
