UCSF Medical Genetics provides inpatient and outpatient consultations, counseling and care to children, adults and their families with rare, complex genetic disorders. Since genetic disorders can be a "family affair", we care for each member of your family affected with the condition.

We work closely with the Pediatric Genetics Clinics in coordinating your child’s care. And because genetic disorders can be complicated and require the expertise of various specialists, our team works closely with other experts, such as those in cancer, neurology and cardiology to provide your child with the highest level of comprehensive care.

Our Research and Technology

In addition to caring for patients, we are also actively involved in research which aims to better understand genetic disease and develop new therapies. We work closely with the UCSF Institute for Human Genetics on projects including molecular and cellular biological studies of genetic disease, gene discovery, genetic epidemiology and clinical research.
