Pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons at the UCSF Epilepsy Center specialize in the treatment of infants, children and adolescents. Our comprehensive services have earned us a level four rating — the highest level — from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.
Our patients receive hospital and clinic care in a supportive environment designed for children. We offer the latest diagnostic tests for epilepsy, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) as well as electrical studies to record and examine brain waves.
Our patients have access to the most advanced therapies, including medication, brain surgery, vagus nerve stimulation and experimental treatments.
Children with epilepsy who don't respond to medication may benefit from new surgical techniques available at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Hear a Patient Power interivew with Dr. Joseph Sullivan, director of the UCSF Pediatric Epilepsy Center, on the latest treatments to control seizures.
