The Endoscopy Center at UCSF Medical Center Parnassus cares for patients of all ages who are in the hospital and those visiting our clinics. Your child may have an endoscopic procedure, which uses an endoscope – a thin, flexible tube with a tiny video camera and light on the end. The high quality picture from the endoscope is shown on a television monitor, providing a clear and detailed view of the inside of the body. Endoscopic procedures include colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, paracentesis, liver biopsy and endoscopic ultrasound. These procedures may be performed by specialists in medicine, surgery, pediatrics and radiology.
Your child will receive the highest level of care in a supportive environment. Our team includes doctors and nurses specially trained in performing endoscopic procedures. Most procedures are performed with sedation, which means your child will be asleep during the procedure.
You'll need a referral from your child's pediatrician or specialist to make an appointment. Once you have the referral, please call the number below.
