Adolescent Colposcopy Clinic

The UCSF Teen Colposcopy Clinic specializes in colposcopic examination and treatment. Colposcopy uses a special lighted, magnifying device to allow doctors to examine the cervix, vulva and walls of the vagina for abnormalities. During colposcopy the doctor may take a tissue sample, or biopsy, of abnormal areas for evaluation in a lab. Colposcopy is usually performed after a pap test shows abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix.
