Michael D. Prados, M.D.

Neuro-oncologist

Dr. Michael D. Prados is an expert in treating adults and children with brain tumors and supervising their care. He also is director of Translational Research in Neuro-Oncology at UCSF. The National Cancer Institute's North American Brain Tumor Consortium, which sponsors studies of brain tumor treatments, is based at UCSF under his leadership.

Prados earned a medical degree from Louisiana State University (LSU). He completed an internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and residency training at LSU. Later, he accepted a fellowship in neuro-oncology at UCSF and joined the faculty in neurological surgery. He is board certified in internal medicine with a specialty in medical oncology. He also is principal investigator or researcher of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium for clinical trials at UCSF. Prados, a professor of neurological surgery, is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Children's Oncology Group.
