Mohammad Diab, M.D.

Orthopedic surgeon

Dr. Mohammad Diab, a surgeon who specializes in treating musculoskeletal conditions in children and teenagers, is chief of pediatric orthopedics.

His special areas of interest are spinal deformities, including scoliosis -- side to side curvature of the spine; kyphosis -- the exaggerated curve that results in a rounded or hunched back; and spondylolisthesis, a condition in which one vertebra slips forward on the one below it and that can result in long-term pain, as well as dysplasia of the hip and other hip disorders in children and adolescents.

Diab joined the department in July 2002, coming from the University of Washington, where he was a faculty member in the Department of Orthopedics and where he trained in general orthopedic surgery. He attended Stanford University, where he received bachelors' degrees in classics and biology and his medical degree, and Harvard University, where he completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery.

Diab is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America and the Scoliosis Research Society.
