

Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program
Dr. Stephen Wilson is director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital at ValleyCare in Pleasanton. As a hospitalist, he coordinates and manages the care that children receive — often by many specialists — while in the hospital. In addition, he is associate chief medical officer of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
His expertise includes pain management, patient safety and the sedation of children. He is medical director of the Pediatric Sedation Service and the children's hospital Access Center, which assists doctors in the community transfer their patients to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Wilson earned a medical degree at Harvard Medical School and completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in medical education at UCSF. He also earned a Ph.D. in immunology at Harvard University. His interests in the community include child abuse prevention, literacy promotion and physician outreach. He is a clinical professor of pediatrics at UCSF's School of Medicine.
