Stephen Wilson, Ph.D., M.D.

Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program

Dr. Stephen Wilson is pediatric hospitalist and pediatric pain management physician. As a hospitalist, Wilson coordinates and manages the care that children receive — often by many specialists — while in the hospital. As a pain management physician, he provides consultative services to patients throughout the children's hospital, using both pharmacological and integrative approaches to relieve pain and other unpleasant symptoms.

In addition, Wilson serves as Associate Chief Medical Officer for the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, medical director of the Pediatric Sedation Service and the Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care Service at UCSF, and director of children's services at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital at ValleyCare in Pleasanton.

Wilson earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in medical education at UCSF. He also earned a Ph.D. in immunology at Harvard University. He is a clinical professor of pediatrics at UCSF's School of Medicine.
